On October 19, 2001, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) filed an application for a new major license pursuant to sections 4(e) and 15 of the Federal Power Act (FPA), to continue operation and maintenance of the Pit 3, 4, 5 Hydroelectric Project No. 233. The 312.33-megawatt (MW) project is located on the Pit River in Shasta County, California, and partly occupies a total of approximately 750 acres of federal lands administered by the U.S. Forest Service. As discussed below, FERC is issuing a new license for the project.

On December 20, 1993, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) filed an application for a new license pursuant to Sections 4(e) and 15 of the Federal Power Act (FPA), 16 U.S.C. ยงยง 797(e) and 808, for the continued operation and maintenance of the 69.3-megawatt (MW) Pit No. 1 Hydroelectric Project No. 2687. The project is located on the Fall and Pit Rivers,1 near the towns of Fall River Mills and McArthur in Shasta County, California. The project does not occupy any federal lands. This order issues a new license for the project.
